Kent County Council has today confirmed the appointment of Christopher Hespe as Cabinet Member for Local Government Efficiency.

Leader of Kent County Council, Linden Kemkaran, said: “Chris has been instrumental in shaping and delivering the efficiency programme set out in this year’s budget. His work as Deputy Cabinet Member for Finance and Cross-Directorate Activity has helped identify and deliver substantial savings, ensuring the Council is able to present a balanced and responsible budget while continuing to protect essential frontline services.

“At a time when councils across the country are facing unprecedented financial pressure, Chris’s focus on value for money and delivery has been critical. I know that in this role he will continue to lead the Council’s efficiency work, building on what has already been achieved and ensuring Kent continues to get the best possible return for residents’ money.”

The Department of Local Government Efficiency will continue to play a central role in supporting Kent County Council’s financial stability, with further efficiencies already identified as part of the Council’s medium-term financial planning.
