Local groups who help Kent's over-50s be physically active can apply for a grant to help cover some costs.

Please note the application window for this grant scheme has closed.

The Forever Active Kent Fund is administered by Active Kent & Medway for Kent County Council (KCC).

Charities, social enterprises and clubs are among those operating within the KCC boundary able to apply for funding of up to £6,000 a year over three years.

Collaboration by groups is encouraged and joint applications may receive higher awards.

Funding can cover:

  • instructor fees
  • venue hire
  • equipment, training
  • marketing, refreshments and administration costs, up to a maximum of 10% of the total project cost

Visit the fund webpage to apply by midnight, Sunday, 11 January 2026.

Elise Rendall, Active Kent & Medway's Strategic Lead for Health and Physical Activity, said: “Increasing physical activity is one of the most powerful ways to delay the onset of long-term conditions such cancer and depression. It also improves strength, balance, mental wellbeing and social connection.

"As Chief Medical Officers have said, 'if physical activity were a drug, we would refer to it as a miracle cure due to the great many illnesses it can prevent and help treat'.

"The Forever Active Kent microgrants programme is our commitment to reshaping how we support healthy ageing in the community.”
