Kent County Council (KCC) is seeking comments on an updated strategy for education in Kent.

Our new draft Education Strategy sets out our vision for a strong, collaborative, and cohesive system working in the best interests of all children. It also sets our work in the context of the established and emerging national direction of travel for education.

In putting this together we have listened to education professionals, parents and carers, and children and young people.

It outlines our overarching principles and how we will deliver our duties, while working with everyone in the sector to deliver an excellent education for all our children and young people.  It aims to build a strong, self-improving system that is evidence-informed and collaborative.

KCC’s Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, Rory Love, said: “Ambition, curiosity, and resilience are three of the most important things a child needs both for a successful education and for their future life-skills. These are our key areas of focus in the strategy.

“The strategy is built on partnership working to deliver an excellent education for Kent’s children and young people, with strong, effective schools and system-wide cohesion.  This is an important opportunity to influence and shape our strategic direction.  We would love to hear your feedback on the proposed strategy.”

The consultation, available at www.kent.gov.uk/educationstrategy, opened on 22 October and runs until 11 December 2024.
