And a webinar explaining the Money Adviser Network (MAN) is being hosted next month to answer any questions.
MAN is a free, Government-sponsored platform for those in the public and private sector in England. It simplifies how organisations can refer clients in financial difficulty to free regulated debt advice to a national panel of advisors on a taxi rank basis. These agencies include StepChange, National Debtline, and Citizens Advice.
KCC has been linked up with MaPS since 2022 and there have been more than 700 referrals to immediate free debt advice via MAN in that time, either with scheduled or immediate callbacks, as well as through a digital route.
By aiming to complement the services these agencies provide, this network allows your referred clients to get free, immediate advice in a matter of minutes. As a referrer, the MAN offers you the opportunity to understand each stage of the client journey from being referred, to being contacted, to being supported.
On Thursday 9 November at 11am, KCC is hosting a free hour-long webinar to share information on the Money Adviser Network. This is happening during MaPS' Talk Money Week, which encourages people to join, start, or lead conversations about money. The theme for this year’s awareness week is 'Do One Thing'. As Claudine Bell, the Regional Partnership Manager for MaPS explains: "This one thing could be as simple as tracking down a lost pension, talking to a child about pocket money or helping your customers to access free digital and telephone debt advice via MAN.”
By hosting the webinar during this week, KCC aims to raise awareness of debt, the work that MaPS is doing to help those experiencing financial difficulties and how KCC is supporting these conversations.
This webinar presents an opportunity for staff across the county to learn more about how to get their clients free immediate debt advice. MaPS will display the process of referring someone for debt advice, how best to identify customers, and how best to track outcomes.
The evidence gathered by MaPS shows that debt advice can not only help resolve people’s issues, but it also increases their confidence, improves their wellbeing and sets them on a road towards greater financial resilience. By streamlining the route, you can be sure that you can positively impact that person’s life in many aspects.
During this difficult time for so many, implementing MAN in your processes will help people access free regulated debt advice that they may have missed before.
