Thousands of pupils across Kent will receive their GCSE results today.

Schools have let students know how to collect their results. For many young people, this will mean collecting them from school, where teachers and support staff will be available to offer advice, guidance and support. Some schools may also provide results through email, online portals or other digital systems.

Whatever your results, remember there are lots of routes to success, and I encourage every young person to be proud of what they have achieved and look forward to the opportunities ahead.

Kent County Council Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, Beverley Fordham, shared this message: "I want to wish the very best to all pupils in Kent receiving their GCSE results today.

"Whether you are moving on to sixth form, college, an apprenticeship or another learning opportunity, this is an exciting time as you begin planning your next steps.

"I would also like to thank school leaders, teachers, support staff and families for the encouragement and support they have provided to young people throughout their education.

“Whatever your results, remember there are lots of routes to success, and I encourage every young person to be proud of what they have achieved and look forward to the opportunities ahead.”

If pupils do not achieve the results they were hoping for, there is lots of support available. The first thing they should do is speak to their school, where staff will be able to discuss their results, explain the options available and help them make informed decisions about their future.

Students can also use the KentChoices website to explore post-16 opportunities across Kent. The website's Clearing Search enables young people to find sixth form and college courses with places still available and provides information on how to apply. Whether students have done better than expected, achieved the grades they were aiming for, or are reconsidering their plans, KentChoices can help them identify suitable pathways.

They can also find local information from The Education People website or visit the National Careers Service Exam Results Helpline website (or call 0800 100 900).

Young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who are making decisions about their next steps can find a wealth of useful information and advice on the SEND Information Hub.

For students in North Kent there is also a 2-day support hub open at Northfleet Technology College from 9am-3pm on Thursday 20 August and 10am-3pm on Friday 21 August where you can get advice on sixth form, college, apprenticeships and re-sits.

Whatever your results, and whatever you're thinking about your next steps, know that you are not alone. Support is available, and there are people ready to listen, offer advice and help you explore the opportunities ahead.
