Following the roof failure at Headcorn Library, urgent safety checks were carried out at Headcorn Primary School, which shares the same building. By late morning, the school was confirmed safe and pupils returned to their classrooms.
A small, fenced-off outdoor area near the library remains secure and poses no risk to the school. Contractors will access the rear of the building via the playground to carry out roof repairs, with scaffolding being installed to safely remove Kent peg tiles and assess the structure.
Parents will be kept informed by the school if there is any disruption to school access.
