Kent County Council (KCC) is encouraging residents and visitors to take advantage of special bus services running over the summer holidays.

Using National Bus Strategy funding provided by Government, KCC is supporting extra services in Folkestone, on the Isle of Sheppey, and between Ashford and Dymchurch.

What’s running this summer?

Ashford to Dymchurch (Service 500)

Running daily until 31 August, the 500 service offers a convenient link from Ashford to the coast.

Folkestone – Reach the Beach service

From 19 July to 31 August, Crosskeys Coaches will return with the popular Reach the Beach service, connecting Folkestone West and Central Stations with the Harbour Arm.

During this time, a special £1 fare will apply to this service, as well as on the Stagecoach 102 and 103 services along the same route.

Isle of Sheppey (Service 360)

Chalkwell will operate the 360 service every Sunday from 20 July to 7 September, supporting local tourism and providing better access around the island.

We’re pleased to support these extra summer services to some of Kent’s most popular destinations.

Peter Osborne, KCC’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: “We’re pleased to support these extra summer services to some of Kent’s most popular destinations. Bus Strategy funding has been vital for Kent, allowing us to support services that were at risk of being cancelled. While industry challenges have limited our ability to expand services more widely, these seasonal trials are a great way to offer more travel options and support local tourism.”

Over the past few years, KCC has used National Bus Strategy funding to support a wide range of bus improvements. However, due to national and local challenges facing the bus industry, much of the funding has been focused on protecting existing services.
