Kent History and Library Centre celebrates Shaun the Sheep coming to Maidstone

Kent County Council (KCC) has embraced all the fun of the farm at the Kent History and Library Centre to celebrate Shaun the Sheep and friends coming to Maidstone.

Heart of Kent Hospice has installed more than 100 decorated sculptures of the popular cartoon countryside farm animal this summer until 30th August. Families and children can use the Shaun Heart of Kent App to follow the trails.

The Kent History and Library Centre has one of these sculptures and are delighted to welcome ‘Wolfie’, who is stationed outside the front entrance. There are also two flocks of smaller sheep designed by local community groups and schools within the library.

The craft and chat group from Allington Library has risen to the occasion and spent the first part of this year knitting and creating to help raise awareness of the trail for the hospice. Members created a large ‘yarn bomb’ for the Anthony Gormley structures that are located outside of the Kent History and Library Centre. The sculpture was ‘bombed’ to celebrate the trail starting and is now safely located inside the building for all to see.

The group also created a wall of knitting and crochet for Allington Library, to further raise awareness and to link the libraries together. Michelle Brown from Heart of Kent Hospice team visited the group to thank them for their hard work.
