Latest consultation launches for Kent Minerals and Waste Local Plan and the Kent Mineral Sites Plan

Kent County Council (KCC) is asking residents to share their views on the county’s Minerals and Waste Local Plan following recent additional changes to the strategy.

Local people and stakeholders are also being asked for feedback on a nominated site for the proposed extraction of hard rock at land south and west of Hermitage Quarry, Aylesford. Comments received will inform further detailed work and help determine whether the site should be allocated or not within the Mineral Sites Plan.

As a result of earlier consultations, it is now proposed that some additional changes are made to the draft local plan in respect of an extended plan period, aggregate mineral requirements, the deletion of the strategic site at Norwood Quarry, Isle of Sheppey, and no longer planning for the provision of waste from London.

The plan period has been extended to 2039 to reflect national requirements for a 15-year plan.

The two consultations, available at www.kent.gov.uk/mineralsandwaste, will run until 25th July.
