A new three-year strategy has launched setting out how Kent County Council (KCC) will use its buying power to benefit Kent’s communities.

The Commercial Strategy 2026-2028 provides the blueprint for how we use the £1.47bn of third-party contracts to support Kent. It covers all spend from social care services for vulnerable people to managing potholes on Kent’s roads.

A new emphasis will be placed on ensuring our local economy is strengthened and every pound spent has maximum impact.

Deputy Leader of KCC, Brian Collins, said: “The financial pressures we face remain significant and with demand still increasing, we have an opportunity to make sure we are working with local businesses in the best possible way.

“With Local Government Reorganisation on the horizon we need to make sure our finances are in the best possible position for the residents of Kent.

“Our new Commercial Strategy will place a greater focus on using the levers we have to deliver high-quality public services.”

The strategy will be officially launched at the end of January at an event designed to assist Kent businesses in doing business with the county council.
