Personalised weddings at refurbished Oakwood House

Wedding couple with registrar at Oakwood House

Wedding couples across the county and beyond are invited to host their perfect day in the newly-refurbished Oakwood House in Maidstone.

The updated Victorian mansion, off Tonbridge Road, is offering ceremonies starting at £265, proving that couples in Kent can have their perfect day and it need not cost the earth at a time where purse strings are pulled the tightest.

Having hosted its first wedding since becoming the new home of the County’s Registration Service, the team at Oakwood House are delighted to invite couples across the county to celebrate their special day within its beautifully refurbished wedding suites, including The Study, catering for up to 15 guests, the Garden Room, accommodating up to 40 and the Kentish Suite up to 80.

Just a short distance from the town centre, Oakwood House is set among mature gardens and tall trees, giving couples a stunning backdrop for their wedding photographs.

Keeley and Daniel Sutton, from HamStreet, Ashford, were the first couple to be welcomed into to the wood-panelled Study room for their small and intimate ceremony, witnessed by their closest family and friends. Keeley was over the moon about the smooth-running day, saying: “Everything at Oakwood was perfect, not just the ceremony but the setting for photographs, inside and out in the gardens.”

With the average UK wedding now estimated to cost about £18,000 (according to The National Wedding Survey www.hitched.co.uk) KCC’s Superintendent Registrar Jane Collins said: “Every room has been refurbished to a high standard, yet we insisted on keeping our charges as low as possible. Planning your wedding at Oakwood House could offer you the option to have the wedding you want at a fraction of the cost elsewhere.”

Due to its well-situated location, Oakwood House allows for couples to make their own arrangements at a wide variety of reception options following on from the official ceremony. Keeley and Daniel opted for a wedding breakfast at Ashford Golf Club, but others may prefer to enjoy a picnic in a park, fish and chips on the beach, a meal at their favourite restaurant, a barbecue in the garden or a hotel with accommodation.

Oakwood House is a short distance from Maidstone town centre, set among mature gardens and tall trees, giving couples a stunning backdrop for their wedding photographs. The venue is wheelchair accessible with free parking for wedding parties.
