Proclamation for King Charles III to take place in Maidstone on Sunday

The High Sheriff of Kent proclaims King Charles III at the Town Hall in Maidstone

People are warmly welcomed to attend the proclamation ceremony of King Charles III.

King Charles III will be proclaimed King at a ceremony in the County Town of Kent on Sunday 11 September, with announcements in all other boroughs and districts following shortly afterwards.

People are warmly welcomed to attend the ceremony just before 1pm witness this historic occasion and hear the official declaration, which will be delivered by the High Sheriff of Kent, Russell Race.

The ceremony will take place in Jubilee Square in Maidstone town centre at 12:57pm.

The Chair, Leader, Members and Officers of Kent County Council will be attending the ceremony.

People are also being encouraged to pay their respects to Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II by signing a book of condolence in County Hall between 9am and 5pm from now until her state funeral, including over the weekend.
