Kent County Council (KCC) is asking you to help shape its draft Education Accessibility Strategy for 2024-27 and Schools Access Initiative Policy and Procedure.

A public consultation on the two policies opened on September 23 and will close on November 11.

At the same time, KCC is asking for your views on Kent’s updated Strategy for Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) 2025 to 2028. Visit www.kent.gov.uk/sendstrategy to have your say.

Rory Love Kent County Council's Cabinet Member for Education and Skills

KCC’s Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, Rory Love, said: “We see all children as unique individuals with their own strengths and potential.  Our ambition is for them to become independent, successful, and empowered to shape their own futures wherever possible.

“In our Education Accessibility Strategy, and our School Access Initiative Policy and Procedure, we have proposed a number of actions to increase pupils’ ability to participate in the curriculum. We want to hear how far you think these actions are effective, and whether any gaps remain to be filled.

“We have also launched a consultation on our updated Strategy for Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.  This provides a narrative for all the reforms we are currently undertaking to address past shortfalls in SEND services across Kent.  It will enable us to maintain the improvements and the pace of change already welcomed by the Government.”
