Ahead of what looks like being a sunny bank holiday weekend, this is a reminder for everyone travelling in and around Kent to continue to be prepared for delays and plan ahead before setting out.
Tourist bookings, an expected high volume of freight and the final opportunity for days out before the schools’ return is signalling that all of Kent roads will be busy, in particular those on route to Kent’s points of exit to Europe.
Stay in touch your operator if you are travelling across the Channel, allow yourself plenty of time to get to the tunnel at Folkestone or the Port of Dover and please make sure you bring water, snacks and any essential supplies to make your journey as comfortable as possible if delays are experienced.
Staying informed and being prepared is important so that we can help you get to your destination as safely and as quickly as possible.
That is the message from the Kent Resilience Forum (KRF), a group that includes Kent’s emergency services, organisations and agencies who plan and prepare together for a multitude of issues that can affect our county.
Operation Brock remains active on the M20 to manage lorries heading to the continent and the Dover Traffic Assessment Project (TAP) will come into force on the A20 if there is a need for additional pressure to be taken off the roads that lead to the port.
