Today pupils across the county will find out which secondary school they have been offered a place at for September.

Out of the 18,636 parents and carers who applied for a place for their child, 17,941 received an offer from one of their four preferred schools.

The number of Kent pupils offered a place at their first-preference school is 14,715 and this year 304 more children were offered one of their preferences, compared to last year.

I am pleased to see 79% of children have been offered their first-preference schools this year, and that 96% will be going to one of their preferred schools in September.

Beverley Fordham, KCC Cabinet Member for Education and Skills

KCC’s Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, Beverley Fordham said: “I am pleased to see 79% of children have been offered their first-preference schools this year, and that 96% will be going to one of their preferred schools in September.

“At KCC we have been working hard with our education partners to make sure school places meet the needs of local communities. I would like to thank the officers on the KCC admission team who have work tirelessly to make sure the process is as smooth as possible for families.

“Where it has not been possible to match pupils with one of their preferred schools, please be assured that today is only the first stage of our comprehensive school place allocation process and further offers will be made over the coming weeks.”

Families who applied online will receive their emails from 4pm and will be able to log into their accounts from 5pm to view their offer.

Every year a number of children cannot be offered a place in one of their preferred schools. In most cases, this is where the parents had not used all four preferences. KCC will support these families by allocating them a place at an alternative school.

This year, children will automatically be enrolled on the waiting lists of higher preference schools they are eligible for but were not offered. Emails sent to parents will explain this in more detail.

Families can also request to join the waiting list of any school of any lower preference they were not offered by Monday 16 March.

Parents and carers can also appeal directly to the admissions authority of any school that could not offer their child a place.

Appeals must be lodged by Monday 30 March. KCC will hold a second round of offers on Thursday 23 April for any spaces that become available.

Further advice can be found in the Offer Email.

If you have any queries after receiving your offer, email kent.admissions@kent.gov.uk quoting your child’s Pupil ID, this can be found in your offer email.
