Kent County Council (KCC) has begun work to create a modern, welcoming community hub at 14 Sandgate Road – the new home for Folkestone Library and the town’s Adult Education Centre for the foreseeable future.

The transformation will bring back the full range of library, registration and archive services to the town centre for the first time in three years, alongside classrooms and learning spaces for adult education. The new centre will feature:

  • Adult and children’s library and local history collection
  • Bright, accessible spaces for reading, study and community events
  • Digital facilities including free Wi-Fi and public computers
  • Location for birth and death registration appointments
  • Modern classrooms for adult learning courses

The hub is expected to open in Spring 2026, giving residents a central, convenient location for learning and community services.
