Weekend of free travel with Fastrack Thameside

A red bus drives around a road.

Fastrack Thameside bus passengers will be able to travel completely free over the weekend of 11 and 12 January, thanks to a collaboration between Kent County Council and Go-Ahead.

Following a big year of change for Fastrack Thameside, including a new bus operator, and the development and completion of the Rennie Drive improvement scheme, the free weekend is a thank you to customers for their continued support throughout 2024.

Passengers will be able to travel free of charge on the A, B, C, and E services from early morning to late at night on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 January. This offer excludes travel on the AZ service that operates between Dartford Home Gardens and Gravesend Garrick Street.

This good news follows the recent announcement that KCC has taken the decision to freeze its fares on Fastrack Thameside services, including the maximum £2 cap. This ensures Fastrack services remain an affordable travel option for passengers.

This is our way of saying thank you for your support.

Neil Baker, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: “At a time when finances are tight for many, free travel on Fastrack Thameside routes over the coming weekend is a small gesture to make life a little easier.

‘Fastrack Thameside has undergone significant changes throughout 2024, and people have shown their continued support for the service by choosing to take the bus over their cars on their journeys. This is our way of saying thank you for your support.

‘There’s no need to book in advance – just hop on and enjoy the ride.”
